How Do You Start An Internet Marketing Campaign?

Firstly, what are you trying to achieve? And equally important is who are your customers or target going to be?

I have put in place a free ecourse about "Internet Marketing Secrets", which shows you the way to promote your service, or product, and start earning some real money!

See Bottom of Page.

However, there is a need to understand the basics of Internet Marketing first, so read on..

The way to begin your campaign in Internet Marketing is to follow this format:

To Start

1. Choose a Product or Niche

2. Have your own Website

3. Write a sales letter

4. Get Traffic to your site

To Grow Your Business

1. Develop your site with Search Engines

2. Write a Newsletter

3. Use an Autoresponder

4. Become an affiliate / recruit affliates

What Niche Is Right For You?

The first step in Internet Marketing is to simply reflect on your own experiences.

Consider all your past work experiences, and favourite hobbies, plus interests.

What knowledge have you gained over the past years that might be valuable to a niche market?

You may have information, or a product, or some other related product/service that you can market on the internet.

The only successful strategy on this over-congested Internet, is to select a specific niche, and to fill it with high-value content.

Don't forget that absolutely everyone has some special interest, or passion.

Everyone knows something that others from around the world seek.

What activities do you enjoy most?

What special knowledge have you learned?

What do you do in a typical day?

Your goal is to find a subject that you really know, and like, and that you think would have some appeal for others.

Your passion will make work fun and easy. If a concept really turns you on, you won't be working, you will be enjoying it.

The real opportunities lie in the niches.

The optimal niche must be not too broad or too narrow.

Have in mind that the search engines are becoming theme based.

This means that instead of only looking at the content of individual pages, they look at the content of all the pages in the Web site.

So, if you choose to develop a broad concept like "Marketing," with several major sub-themes, it will be harder to rank well for the sub-themes, than if you dedicated a single site to a sub-theme.

The simple recommendation is to keep your niche as narrow as possible, yet still with enough profit potential.

Don't stop after discovering the first niche concept.

Write down concepts as they come to you.

Make the list as long as you can, and just write down ideas for site concepts as they occur.

Take your time on this process. The final concept will form the foundation for your future success.

Don't Forget Content Is King!

Do Your Own Research

Once you've considered a few ideas, it is time to do some research. This will help you discover if there is a niche market for your ideas.

The key to good Internet Marketing skills is finding the right keywords.

Start your research using a keyword suggestion tool.

There are several but a good one is the one from overture.com

For more advanced features you can buy a one-day or one-week subscription to full service for a small fee.

How Do You Use The Keyword Suggestion Tool?

Enter a keyword related to your idea into the suggestion tool, and the tool will present you with the number of times that the keyword was searched for in their search engine.

The key, is to think along the lines of what your target audience may be searching for.

That tool will also show the number of times related keywords were searched on.

This will give you an indication of what your niche Internet market might be.

If you find a decent amount of interest, say a few thousand or more combined monthly searches on keywords directly related to your idea, then you may be in a solid niche.

The goal of finding keywords is to build a table of keywords that can bring targeted traffic to your Web site, and that are often searched for. But still not so competitive, as to make top ranking next to impossible.

When finding keywords for Internet Marketing, don't limit yourself to single words.

Statistical research has shown that most people search using multiple-word keywords composed of two, or even three, words in order to get more targeted results.

Try to look at the Web site from the visitor end.

Who are they?

What are they trying to do?

What other stuff do they look for?

Figure out what problem your target market is trying to solve when they do a search.

What other keywords would they look for?

Add them to your original list.

You can add a whole new major direction, and income stream, to your Web site simply by thinking about your target's other needs.

Do You Need Help?

Fact #1 -- Most people are working too hard to make any real money online!

Most people spin their wheels and put in a lot of hours, but at the end of the day they don't have much to show for it.

Fact #2 -- A few people don't work any harder than they have to... yet they make tons more money online, and enjoy themselves a whole lot more than everyone else.

They're called "Lazy Achievers" - and I've found a good ebook by Jim Edwards, that teaches you their "secret" strategies, techniques and - most importantly - their mindset!

Worth a read.
